Astaxanthin is primarily derived from the marine microalgae Haematococcus pluvialis, which is the richest known source of this natural pigment. Astaxnthin has excellent antioxidant effects. Its antioxidant capacity is 550 times more than vitamin E’s and protects against UVA-induced skin cancer. Furthermore, astaxanthin protects the skin from harmful free radicals and reduces wrinkles and freckles.
Astaxanthin penetrates the skin and protects each dermal layer from ROS-related damage, reducing moisture loss, promoting smoothness, and stimulating cellular regeneration.
According to a clinical study conducted by Dr. Debasis Bagchi at Creighton University, it can eliminate free radicals 6,000 times more effectively than vitamin C, 800 times more than CoQ10, 550 times more than vitamin E and green tea, 75 times more than Alpha Lipoic Acid, and 20 times more than beta-carotene.
