Ferulic acid is an antioxidant found in the cell walls of plants such as rice and oats and the seeds of apples and oranges, where it plays a key role in the plants’ protection and self-preservation.
Ferulic Acid, extracted from Rice Bran Oil, is one of the most powerful natural antioxidants. Many plants contain FA, which plays a key role in the plants’ self-preservation mechanism, re-enforcing its cellular wall strength and protecting it from microbial damage as well as sun damage. As an antioxidant, FA will pair with molecules called free radicals. Left untouched, free radicals in the body look for molecules to bond with, often bonding with molecules in cell walls and damaging the cell in the process.
FA also acts as a synergistic with other antioxidants, especially vitamins C and E. When used with these vitamins, FA prevents them from breaking down or becoming ineffective.
