Oil based antioxidant booster that gives a rich orange tint and supports stronger protection against oxidation. Perfect for face oils, serums, balms, and body oils.
Astaxanthin Oil is an oil soluble antioxidant concentrate used to support the look of healthier, more resilient skin and improve formula stability in oxidation prone oil blends.
It is typically supplied as astaxanthin dispersed or dissolved in a carrier oil, making it easy to dose into facial oils, oil serums, balms, lip products, and body oils.
Astaxanthin naturally carries a deep orange to red colour, so it can tint the finished product and may stain fabrics if used too high or applied heavily.

FORMULATION GUIDELINES
| INCI | Astaxanthin (and) Sunflower Oil |
|---|---|
| Type | Oil-soluble antioxidant concentrate |
| Solubility | Oil soluble |
| SAP Value | Use the carrier oil SAP value for soap calculations |
| Iodine Value | Use the carrier oil iodine value for oxidation profiling |
| Use Rate | 0.02–0.2% typical as an antioxidant booster. Higher levels are possible but increase colour staining risk. |
| Best Phase | Oil phase / anhydrous base |
| pH Compatibility | Not pH dependent (oil phase ingredient). pH N/A for anhydrous systems. |
| Temperature Tolerance | We recommend adding below 45°C and avoiding prolonged heat to protect colour and potency. |
| Pro Tip | Dose astaxanthin oil carefully. Start low, mix fully, then evaluate colour and skin feel before increasing. Protect from light and air. Use amber packaging and minimise headspace for better colour hold. Pair with a second antioxidant (example: tocopherol) in oxidation-prone oil blends for stronger long term stability. |
| Appearance | Orange to deep red oil |
| Stability Notes | Colour fades with light and heat exposure. Keep packaging protective and run colour hold testing. |
| Storage | Keep sealed, cool and dry, away from direct sunlight. Refrigeration helps preserve colour. |
