Description

Polysorbate 80 is a high HLB emulsifying agent consisting of laurate esters of sorbitol consisting of the monoester condensed with ethylene oxide (polyoxyethylene-80 sorbitan monooleate). It helps water and oil combine. It is commonly used to solubilize or introduce an amount of fragrance, essential, or Plant oils to formulations.

Polysorbate 80 Functionality:
  • Excellent Solubiliser
  • Non-Ionic
  • Emulsifying efficacy is increased when combined with cetyl alcohol or sorbitan stearate
  • Anti Static Thickener

INCI: Polysorbate-80
Appearance: Amber, viscous liquid, odorless.
Saponification value 45-55.
Solubility: Soluble in water & alcohols, insoluble in oils.
HLB value: 15
Use: Oil-in-water emulsions
CAS: 9005-65-6
Usage rate: 1 – 10%. For external use only.

For lighter oils Solubilization, use Tween 20
